In a mark of respect for Mr Lee Kuan Yew, I decided to not post any entertainment matters online during the week of mourning for him. This post was meant for last week but I decided to push it back by 1 week till today..
The Kublai Khan Mongolian Buffet on the 4th level of Park Mall has got intrinsic decorations and setup to suggest a Mongolian-like setting for dining. From the horse sculptures at the entrance that suggests how ancient men would tether their horses to settle for a good meal, to a walkway that suggests a setting of the mighty Great Wall of China with the rocky background patterns. Every minor detail is meticulously in place that brings back memories of those medieval times.
$35 for a dinner meal at this buffet place is a reasonable amount considering its good varieties of food on offer even though the ambience might be lacking in spite of its decent setup. The music on repeat serves to magnify the mundane mood there. The plus side was the fact that friendly assistants around afforded good dining service.
The range of food in this buffet place is not the widest around but it is decent and eye catchy.
In what sense? For $35, you get to have a good western variety of spaghettis and lasagne, chinese varieties of dim sums and fried wanton, japanese delights like sashimis and even local delights like chilli crabs and bun just to name a few.
The tastes of these dishes might not be fantastic but it certainly trumps mainstream places like buffet town and is even cheaper than those.
The sashimis might be ordinary, western sub-par but one dish that certainly didn't disappoint was that of the Satays here.
The Sharks fin soup(as much as I disapprove of such a dish) was excellent and the fried wantons are crispy delicacies that you simply can't bear to miss. The chilli crabs were however, a tough nut to crack and difficult to consume and the desserts weren't that outstanding.
An interesting dish available was similar to that of the local char Kway Teow, where you can actually customize your own ingredients to have in your bowl of dish. You can witness the chef cooking right before your eyes and if you happen to be early and one of the first few customers there, you could be lucky to watch an intriguing show of him cooking. I shan't give any spoilers but it is something worthy of note from this venue. This dish is unique as it can't really be found around that commonly.
There was plenty of anticipation for me in the days leading up to dining at this buffet place. It didn't disappoint in spite of some of its lackluster elements as I still got to enjoy a satisfying and hearty meal in this Mongolian retreat.
So with that, Peanut has left a marker on another food place.Stay tuned for more adventures!

People come and go in life. True fact. Hard fact. That is why the year 2015 is a precious one. A year of many 21st which also means a year of meeting familiar faces whom you have not met up with in ages. Busy and hectic schedules have meant meet ups with them are hard to come by. That is what truly makes this year such a golden year - Catching up on lost time and not missing such an important milestone in that someone's life. So I have decided to introduce this new section to my blog solely because it is the year of 21st birthdays and maybe even go one step further with such posts in the future. (Dedications) I feel that such a section has never actually been done before and I find it extremely meaningful to do it.
So without further ado, I shall begin on my post.....
So yeap as I have promised in my previous post, this post is all dedicated to Jayne, a person whom I have been classmates with for a total of 4 consecutive years.
So who is this Jayne?
Jayne
Soon to be 21
Has a liking to potatoes and a certain durian
Member of the Aunty Gang in our jc class
Member of the much heralded CO in VJC
We were actually not very late for her party but due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to sit at the void deck for half an hour before going up. It drained much of my energy but thankfully, it wasn't really impactful.
Being a host is never an easy job as I did have first hand experience with it. Hopping around to different groups to interact and engage them throughout the entire day is a tough experience and I know that Jayne realised that on the day. You said you neglected a lot of people yesterday but we all know that's not the truth! You were simply busy being the host!
Throughout my almost 7 years of knowing her, Jayne has always been really simpleminded and kind hearted. Being simple minded isn't a bad thing. Overthinking and reacting to situations in adverse manners are easily avoided with your personality. 这样就不会想太多. Probably one of the most difficult traits to have around.
Once again, another friend who I have known for more than 5 years. It's really nice to know that this is the case. It's also nice to know that you have finally found that particular someone who is willing to be together with you, to help you in whatever ways possible and who loves you aplenty. Time isn't always the best barometer to judge the strength of relations but in this case, through time, I think your bond with your durian will only grow ever stronger. After all, the saga between you 2 has been extremely long to begin with and I'm super happy that you 2 are finally together! 船到桥头自然直. We can all see how much he has assisted you during your birthday, being the host and organizer etc!
Another thing about yesterday was that I totally forgot to write in your guest book because I was busy helping you to take photos(I feel so honored). Hope you liked our gift(hint:it is yellow in color) and I bet you had a blast yesterday during your party! Loved the creative games and beautiful decorations. It was honestly an apt setting for your 21st birthday.
So here are some photos of the event yesterday!
Because of events like Chinese New Year and many of our mutual friends 21st, meeting up with Jayne hasn't been difficult or lacking. Despite school and your other commitments, you seem to still be able to have that happy go lucky persona. And without a question, your auntie traits have always been ever so evident since secondary school days haha! Even after so many years, you still keep these traits and have never changed.
I definitely know you will be reading this post because I even pre-empted you. I honestly cannot wait to be your school mate for another few years even though we are in different years. 你是肯定值得大家珍惜的朋友.
So with that, Peanut has made another dedication post.
Stay tuned for more adventures!

Hi everyone! This is pathetically 2 weeks late but I have finally found the right words and time to post about my 21st birthday. Thank you Jayne for giving me the permission to post about my 21st especially since hers was only yesterday.
So I'm going to make this post short and sweet to express my deepest heartfelt thoughts in the most succinct manner.
It was finally my turn to hit 21 years old, a true once in a lifetime milestone. Choosing a setting was not difficult for such an occasion and Riverview hotel was an easy choice due to its good food and nearby venue.
Guests flowed in and the food was savored. Just a pity that I couldn't get to taste them much. Missed the bread and butter pudding but thankfully managed to try the butter curry prawn which was a huge hit on the day.
But all these were not important. What I felt on the day was really sheer exhilaration albeit tiredness. My family and friends made time for me to grace this special occasion of mine and I'm truly thankful. Thankful beyond words. Without all of them, my 21 years would have been pointless and a mundane bore. I've probably said my thanks many times both personally and on social media. I can't thank all of you enough for all the memories.
Received presents but I know that nothing is more important than the true kinship and friendship present. So this post is dedicated to all those that made your way down(and also to those that weren't present at the party)and were important to me in one way or another.
First and foremost, a special thank you to my family. There would always be this firm pillar of support no matter what happens to me. Listening to my problems and happiness and tolerating whatever nonsense that I have put you guys through - for being my pillar of strength.
Secondly, a special thank you to my secondary school friends for being the rock in my childish school years, allowing me to carve myself out slowly but surely into the person I am today. For going through so much crazy funny nonsense during those younger years. It was simply a joy in those 4 beautiful years.
A special thank you to my JC friends, for being part and parcel of those 2 years where I had uninhibited ecstasy and fun. I truly got to know myself better in those years and it wouldn't have been made easier and possible without all of you by my side.
Last but not least, a special thank you to my army friends, for standing by me in what was definitely the most tiring and harrowing days of my life. So many moments that scarred me, fatigued me but you guys brought me out from the dumps. Mistakes were made but life is worthwhile for its many elements and its imperfections as well. Embracing them and improving oneself is the way forward.I'm truly grateful and thankful for all of you and since I was being rushed for this post by a certain someone.. I guess I should just post this today! So really sorry Jayne I'll post about your birthday either later today or tomorrow! In an eagerness to engage my friends better, I did organize some games that had many interesting moments to integrate the crowd. So here are some pictures from my birthday party!
It was a perfect day with so many moments to reminisce and remember, filled with so many moments that I will keep close to my heart. So with that, Peanut has made another dedication.Stay tuned for more adventures!
